NERF welcomes Karl Farrow as fifth Group Leader

27 May 2013

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Karl Farrow will join NERF as fifth Group Leader. Originally from Toronto in Canada, Dr. Farrow is an accomplished retinal neurophysiologist. He worked in the labs of Alexander Borst (Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, Germany), Richard Masland (Harvard Medical School, USA) and Botond Roska (FMI, Switzerland).

Dr. Farrow nicely complements NERF’s experimental repertoire bringing techniques to study the activity of complete neuronal populations in the intact retina as well as mouse genetic and viral-vector based technologies to trace specific retinal cell types from their brain targets.

In his new lab, Dr. Farrow will study how specific groups of retinal neurons convey distinct visual information to distinct parts of the mammalian brain. Dr. Farrow will join the NERF team on June 1st 2013. Welcome aboard Karl!
